Margaret was Dodo Chaplet’s great-aunt.
Margaret was a social-climber in London who took in her great-niece Dodo Chaplet following the death of her mother. Whilst one account said that Dodo’s father had been institutionalised, (Salvation) most agreed that both of Dodo’s parents were dead. (The Man in the Velvet Mask etc.)
A strict woman, Margaret called Dodo by her full name and made her take elocution lessons to give her a more upper-class accent. (Salvation) Dodo did not think that Margaret would care if she never saw her again (The Massacre) but called her from New York City to let her know that she was travelling and would be back for her exams. (The Man in the Velvet Mask) According to one account, it was Dodo’s intention upon leaving the TARDIS to return to her great-aunt. (The Smugglers)
In 1970 or 1971, Dodo told James Stevens that she had no living relatives. (Who Killed Kennedy)

Dodo thought that Margaret was a “fusty old woman” (The Doctor’s Gambit) and described her as being “a bit much”.
