The mother of Raymond Digby lived in London in 1925. While Digby was working as a nurse at Cranleigh Hall and caring for George Cranleigh, he visited his mother on a Sunday. She later wrote to him to tell him how much she had enjoyed the visit, hoped he was well and wished he was happy in his new job. She also prayed he was not doing anything bad. When the Fifth Doctor found Digby’s body after he was murdered by George Cranleigh, he found the letter from Digby’s mother in his jacket pocket. (Black Orchid)
