The Eighth Doctor goes further than ever
The Eighth Doctor (Paul McGann) and his companions, Charley Pollard (India Fisher) and Lady Audacity Montague (Jaye Griffiths) will face some of their greatest challenges yet as they venture into unknown territory in Causeway, a box set of two brand-new audio adventures.
In the first story, Lost Amongst the Stars, The Doctor takes Charley and Audacity to a distant planet in the 56th century, where explorers have uncovered an abandoned city. But many dangers await them here, from a warring insectoid species to deadly spores.
Then, in the two-part The Time You Never Had, the time travellers visit Copenhagen and investigate the Causeway, an organisation that’s been present throughout their adventures and which has been manipulating time itself. This takes Audacity to a different timeline, alongside the enigmatic Silurian traveller Mr Barabbas (Richard Hope, who previously played Silurians in four Doctor Who TV episodes).

For Paul McGann and India Fisher, this box set marks a notable anniversary, as it’s now 25 years since the Eighth Doctor and Charley’s audio debut, Storm Warning, which was recorded in May 2000 and released January 2001.
Fisher said: “25 years of Charlotte Pollard, and yet she’s still 18 running around fighting aliens! It still feels as fresh and alive. The scripts are always so exciting, and it’s really lovely to go off on another adventure with Charley.
“This run with Audacity has really brought Charley on again, and she feels as though she’s growing in her relationship with the Doctor. I suppose another companion coming along has changed things too; there’s another strong female. You might think that two alpha female personalities wouldn’t really work but actually it does – and it works brilliantly. The poor Doctor gets a bit of a hard time, but he can hold his own!
“And I really love working with Paul and Jaye. Jaye and I hit it off from the moment we sat down together, and so I’m always really thrilled when I see the name Audacity in any script. I know I’m going to have a few days of fun!”
On the new stories in this box set, Jaye Griffiths said: “Charley, the Doc and Dassy are not people for sitting on a beach reading a rom-com. They’re out for adventures. And adventures mean you take risks and sometimes you fall flat. But there’s always the three of them to pick each other up!
