Magellans were a sentient species that resembled stars. This was not their true name, but how they were referred to by Aphrodite Diamante, since her parent was seeded in the Greater Magellanic Cloud.
They travelled throughout the universe, and would sometimes gather to exchange energy and experiences. They considered having a child a crime, as they normally reproduced by seeding. When Aphrodite’s parent gave birth to her, it was punished by being split. The Magellan had some time travel capability, as they exiled each half to a different time zone on Earth.
