Summer to winter, the seasons turn.
In the springtime of a distant future, The Doctor and Nyssa become embroiled in Time Lord politics on an alien world. During the stifling heat of a summer past they suffer the vengeful wrath of Isaac Newton. In the recent past, Nyssa spends a romantic golden autumn in an English village while The Doctor plays cricket. And finally, many years after their travels together have ended, the two friends meet again in the strangest of circumstances.
Four seasons. Four stories.
Now close the door behind you, you’re letting the cold in…

Circular Time was the ninety-first monthly Doctor Who audio release produced by Big Finish Productions. Released in 2007, it was the company’s first attempt at an audio anthology in the main monthly range. It featured the Fifth Doctor and Nyssa. Its critical and popular success paved the way for the release’s then-unique format to be repeated annually.
In Spring
- Lord Cardinal Zero’s regeneration at the end of this story is the only instance of a Time Lord regenerating into a different species.
- Nyssa suggests The Doctor might be afraid of heights after his fourth incarnation’s fatal fall from the Pharos Project’s telescope on 1 March 1981. (Logopolis)
In Summer
- The Doctor quotes a few lyrics from Who is The Doctor.
- While imprisoned, The Doctor laments that he has not found the time to make a new sonic screwdriver since the original’s destruction by the Terileptil leader in September 1666. (The Visitation) theSeventh Doctor would eventually make a replacement at some point prior to the events of The TV Movie
In Autumn
- When Nyssa tells Andrew Harper that she is from Traken, he assumes that it is in Ireland.
- This story is set in the recent past (relative to the publication date of 2007), and involves no science fictional elements other than The Doctor and Nyssa themselves
In Winter
- There are mentions of the Fifth Doctor’s former companions Adric, Tegan Jovanka and Turlough as well as his current companion Peri Brown.
- Nyssa is married to a man named Lasarti. They have an infant daughter, Neeka.
- The Master uses Kamelion’s connection to The Doctor’s TARDIS to try to prevent the Fifth Doctor’sregeneration into the Sixth Doctor. (The Caves of Androzani)
