Alastair Fergus was a journalist and presenter for BBC3’s The Passing Parade. After an interview in which his ignorance of current events and banal, patronising questions nearly caused a major diplomatic incident, he was only allowed to do field assignments. (Who Killed Kennedy)

In the 1970s, he covered Prof. Gilbert Horner’s evacuation at Devil’s Hump. The interview was interrupted by Olive Hawthorne, who warned them not to open the barrow, and later by the Third Doctor, who had been watching the dig on television, and who failed to prevent it from being opened.
