Professor Winser was the head of research at the Nuton Power Complex.
Winser was given a sample of Axonite to analyse prior to worldwide distribution. He was adamant that he should be its sole experimenter. However, when the Third Doctor accidentally triggered its nutrition cycle by subjecting it to a particle accelerator, it broke out and absorbed Winser, killing him. (The Claws of Axos)
