Varna was on Skaro when Bernice Summerfield arrived. She was reliving the same day over and over again. She thought she came from Skaro, she theorised that a time bomb was released here. She noticed the possibilities of the planet, a fully populated planet, the ghost planet and the empty hidden away planet, and if the ghosts touched a person they would die permanently. She thought that the time loop was a Thal weapon, and thought that the Daleks were a Thal invention. She gave a crippled Dalek power. She wanted to reprogramme The Dalek to obey her commands. She was sickened by the Kaled mutant. She said that the Kaleds would not want suffering. She was an ideal Kaled, so was exterminated for it. (The Lights of Skaro)
