Rebecca Nurse was a human living in Salem Village, Massachusetts during the late 17th century.
The First Doctor, Susan Foreman, Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright met her in 1692, shortly before the commencement of the Salem witch trials. She was accused of being a witch, convicted and executed.
On 18 July 1692, the night before she was hanged, The Doctor returned to Salem and took her to the future, to show her that her death helped ensure that nothing like the witch trials would ever happen again. (The Witch Hunters)
