Miranda Pelham was a writer.
When Pelham was fifteen, she first learned about Valdemar on Proxima 2. It was the inspiration for a series of novels she wrote later.
Paul Neville brought her to Ashkellia, where Valdemar was supposedly entombed, to help in his plan to access the higher dimensions. Valdemar convinced her to stay in his dimension and to learn from it.
A later incarnation of Romana’s appearance was copied after Pelham, and she admitted that she would probably use her form in the future, considering her “a lovely-looking woman”. (Tomb of Valdemar)
BEHIND THE SCENES
As a red herring, Tomb of Valdemar [+]’s framing device initially implies the story teller is an older Miranda, before revealing her to be Romana.
