Jal was the leader of the rebels on Krikkit after the slow time gsate was activated. She was the lover of the previous leader and was pregnant with their children. She hoped that the Fourth Doctor would bring structure to the planet and told him that legends of him made it way through the slow time barrier. She told Romana II and the Doctor about ultimate weapon. She was married to a defective krikkitman, Sir Robot. She gave birth to twins during The Doctor’s attempted coup with K9 Mark II and Romana being her midwives. She then tried to convince the parliament to stop the new war.
