The Sixth Doctor meets Broadway and Martin O’Neill
Legendary Northern Irish football manager Martin O’Neill makes an extraordinary cameo performance in Purity Unleashed, the latest release in The Sixth Doctor Adventures.
O’Neill, a former Nottingham Forest midfielder, as well as the hugely successful manager of Celtic and Leicester football clubs, pops up as theatre heckler Arthur Lee in Matthew Sweet’s tribute to 1930s musicals, Broadway Belongs To Me!
Colin Baker stars as the Sixth Doctor and Bonnie Langford is Melanie Bush in this and two other astonishing audio adventures which continue the ongoing Sixth Doctor Adventures story arc.
Producer Jacqueline Rayner said: “Many paths cross in the studios, but I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed a cast so excited as when they encountered football legend Martin O’Neill! I think everyone involved was already a fan, and ended the day even bigger fans.
“I was listening in remotely, gutted not to be there, but Martin kindly signed an autograph for my son, with a lovely message. His small part in the play is the best cameo ever! If he ever wants to move on from football, there’s most definitely a place for him in comedy!”
